Horizons inside classical lumps.
We investigate the possibility of having horizons inside various classical field configurations. Using the implicit function theorem, we show that models satisfying a certain set of criteria allow for (at least) small horizons within extended matter fields. Gauge and global monopoles and Skyrmions satisfy these criteria. Q-balls and Boson stars are examples which do not and can be shown not to ...
متن کاملIsolated Horizons: the Classical Phase Space
A Hamiltonian framework is introduced to encompass non-rotating (but possibly charged) black holes that are “isolated” near future time-like infinity or for a finite time interval. The underlying space-times need not admit a stationary Killing field even in a neighborhood of the horizon; rather, the physical assumption is that neither matter fields nor gravitational radiation fall across the po...
متن کاملClassical and Quantum Thermodynamics of horizons in spherically symmetric spacetimes
A general formalism for understanding the thermodynamics of horizons in spherically symmetric spacetimes is developed. The formalism reproduces known results in the case of black hole spacetimes and can handle more general situations like: (i) spacetimes which are not asymptotically flat (like the de Sitter spacetime) and (ii) spacetimes with multiple horizons having different temperatures (lik...
متن کاملFractional Vortices and Lumps
We study what might be called fractional vortices, vortex configurations with the minimum winding from the viewpoint of their topological stability, but which are characterized by various notable substructures in the transverse energy distribution. The fractional vortices occur in diverse Abelian or non-Abelian generalizations of the Higgs model. The global and local features characterizing the...
متن کاملBumps/lumps on penis
I am a 20-year-old male with a question. Since I can remember, I've had many bumps (small lumps under the skin) covering the underside shaft of my penis, as well as my scrotum. They are very similar to the bumps I've noticed on girls' nipples. When I went to the "Doc," I was told they were normal and fine. My question to you is: Exactly how "normal" are these bumps and how common? Do all males ...
